This week, Dr. Morgan will be joined by a friend and holistic colleague who followed her passion to focus on end of life and hospice care – Dr. Monica Turenne, DVM, CVA, CT, CHPV, from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Dr. Turenne successfully worked in traditional veterinary practice for 13 years before venturing out on her own in 2012. She provides holistic and integrative services to dogs and cats in all stages of their lives including and specializing in help for those pets at the end of their lives with hospice care and euthanasia services. Often a last resort referral, Dr. Turenne is beloved and respected by her clients, who describe her as “very passionate and caring”. When it’s in the best interest of her patients, she goes above and beyond by providing these services in-home! While her practice continues to offer integrative veterinary treatment, Dr. Turenne’s desire to provide compassionate end of life care led her to seek and achieve certification in Thanatology, the scientific study of death and the practices associated with it, in 2014. Most recently, she also became a Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Veterinarian so she could more effectively address the relief of pain, symptoms and stress caused by serious illnesses. While Dr. Turenne has helped many clients avoid costly surgeries using acupuncture, food therapies and herbs, turning that last resort into a lifetime of canine happiness, her true passion is end of life care and in the end, a gentle journey to the Rainbow Bridge. This is an episode you won’t want to miss!
