[HTML1] We all know Tippi Hedren as the actress who lit up the screen in Alfred Hitchcock’s classic movie, The Birds! Tippi’s performance was riveting, absorbing, elegant! Tippi went on to receive a Golden Globe Award for her perfomance in The Birds; numerous “Best Actress” and Life Achievement Awards; a Woman of Vision Award; and in 2003 Tippi received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!
Since 1983, a major part of Tippi’s efforts has gone into The Shambala Preserve and the ROAR Foundation. Currently the Shambala Preserve is home to over 80 exotic felines rescued from abusive situations, and brought to the facility to live out their lives peacefully and naturally. Tippi is not only an outstanding actress, she’s a lover of life! … and a lover of dignity!
Tippi is also an advocate for life and dignity! She co-authored and passed the “Captive Wildlife Safety Act” and is active with an extraordinary Bill currently before Congress: the “Federal Ban on Breeding Exotic Cats for Personal Possession Act.”
In the words of interviewer Al Cole: “I applaud Tippi’s sensitivities as an actress, and even more as a human being. In my opinion, exotic animals should certainly not be housed for profit, they should be cared for and loved. Responsible supervision is not only a mark of compassion, I believe any other direction that a human takes toward exotic animals is in fact unconscionable. I believe that all animals are sacred; all living, breathing creatures should be harbored under the protection of God’s umbrella”.
