[HTML1] Cornelius Grant was the musical director, guitar player, and arranger for the one of the biggest, most talented singing groups this world has ever seen—Motowns’ phenominal Temptations! Cornelius Grant also wrote a couple of their million seller in hits too–“You’re My Everything,” and “(I Know) I’m Losin’ You,” that pop/rock superstar Rod Stewart also covered.
The path of success led the Temptations to the four corners of the globe, into The White House as guests of Tricia Nixon Eisenhower, and to London for an audience with the Archbishop of Canterbury. Still, as the group became R&B icons, success too took its toll. Cornelius watched his friends Eddie Kendricks, Paul Williams and David Ruffin fall victim to the excesses that adulation can bring.
Cornelius left the Temptations and formed The Siege Company in Los Angeles. The firm has made enormous strides over the last dozen years, making it one of the most respected talent bookers for business and social events. A current project, Flashbacks and Newtraks is a radio show featuring interviews, entertainment news, oldies music and many interesting points of view by his co-host Sylkie Green.
When Cornelius gives lectures, he sometimes shares the podium with Motown insiders such as Don Foster (former Supremes and Temptations manager) and TV Writer/Motown Historian, Ruth Adkins Robinson. Hats go off to Cornelius Grant, who has stayed the course, and is still in there doing some great, important, and very impressive things!
