[HTML1] Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Martha Reeves is a Pop & R&B marvel! Martha Reeves, as we all know, is the legendary MARTHA of one of the biggest singing groups ever–Martha & The Vandellas! Martha & The Vandellas recorded some of the greatest hits of the fabulous Motown era–“Dancing in the Street,” “Jimmy Mack,” “Nowhere to Run” and “Heatwave“! There was no groove like the Motown, Detroit groove. And in 1995, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
In 1998, Martha performed as part of the halftime show of Super Bowl 32! In 2004, Martha released her first album in 24 years, “Home to You,” with recordings she had largely written and produced herself. She was also honored for her best-selling 1995 autobiography, aptly called “Dancing in the Street.”
Martha has been named one of The “30 Greatest Lead Singers of All Time” … Has received The Dinah Washington Award, The Black Women in Publishing Legend Award, The Dick Clark’s Soul Award, and has been named one of Rolling Stone Magazine’s “Immortal” Artists.
Another thing you gotta love about Martha Reeves is her sense of civic pride, and giving back to her community! From 2005 until 2009, Martha Reeves served as an elected councilwoman for the city of Detroit! And then, after serving on the Detroit City Council, she returned to full-time performing with nearly 50 shows in 2010. This included a major tour of Australia and several festivals in England. And for her performances, she was nominated for two UK Festival Awards, as “Best Headliner” and “Feel Good Act of the Summer” too!
Martha Reeves is a board member of AFTRA, Detroit chapter. And in 2007, she testified before Congress on behalf of musicians, session singers and recording artists for better wages and royalties.
Martha Reeves serves as a great role model for women! … yes, and for guys too—listen guys, respect all women…because, they have, like Martha, the wonderful and alluring capability for greatness!
