[HTML1] Pamela O’Leary is the Executive Director of a Washington DC organization called, Public Leadership Education Network, commonly known as PLEN. PLEN is the only national organization whose sole focus is preparing women for leadership in the public policy arena. Founded in 1978, PLEN has served thousands of women, of which more than one-third are women of color or from other populations historically under-represented in public policy leadership.
This year, three very distinguished women will be honored by receiving the 2011 Mentor Awards at PLEN’s annual reception on Thursday, February 24th. These three distinguished women are: the Honorable Barbara Lee, Congresswoman from California; Tracy Henke of Thomas Advisors Inc; and Sarah Craven of the United Nations Population Fund.
The Mentor Awards reception enables PLEN to further its educational programs and commitment to training the next generation of women leaders. In addition, PLEN trains college women for careers in public policy. And in Pamela O’Leary’s own words–“it is so exciting to meet the college students and introduce them to many brand new concepts, such as how to do an informational interview!” …and you’re listening to a great informational interview right now with Pamela O’Leary on People of Distinction!
