Don’t Shoot! I’m the Guitar Man, recounts the 3½ years Buzzy taught guitar-playing to inmates at San Quentin State Prison. All the time he was acting as the guitar man at San Quentin, he met regularly with at-risk kids in Sonoma County . He taught them chords too, joked with them, encouraged them to avoid violence, to believe that they’re worth something, and capable of achieving success in life. Buzzy achieved success when his book was passed it to higher-ups at Penguin Books! A deal was signed that made it possible for Buzzy’s book to be shared with the world!

Buzzy also caught the attention of the mayor of San Francisco in the kind of fate that only happens through determination and true greatness. An associate of the mayor told Buzzy that she was a film producer and founder of Arizona’s Carefree Film Festival—and she saw movie potential in Don’t Shoot! I’m the Guitar Man!
