Most of us have heard of the amazing activist Greta Thunberg from Sweden. But an young artist/activist in the U.S is also making waves in the Environmental Justice area — Jessica Jane Robinson. She has been a zero-waste practitioner and environmental leader in the Bay Area for over a decade and served as Vice President of the Northern California Recycling Association since 2016. She used her platform as Miss Alameda County, a crown she held in 2010, to showcase sustainability and climate issues by creating a superhero she called “Recycle Woman.” The character evolved into a graphic novel series called “Resilience Birthright” –launched in 2018. That led to creating an organization, “Resilence”, which is now an NGO partnering with the UN. Her for-profit company by the same name houses the art and music she creates to move her “movement” forward. She became a Climate Leader for former VP Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project in 2012. Now, among the 19,000 climate leaders from 154 countries, Jessica is ranked in the top 50. On April 30, her new music release will happen virtually all over the country and the world.
