Janette Dean is an Environmental Policy and Human Rights Advocate and Organizer. From 2014 through 2017, she was the Lead Grassroots Organizer for the State of Nevada’s renewed effort to ratify the 1972 Equal Rights Amendment. Ratification was achieved on March 22, 2017, through a coalition of Nevada and national organizations working together with Nevada Senator, Pat Spearman, and other ERA champions serving in the Nevada Legislature. Janette and Senator Spearman both continue to advocate for ratifications of the ERA in other states with the national Equal Rights Amendment Coalition organization, and for a federal resolution that would support the Equal Rights Amendment.
For Women’s Equality Day in 2021, Janette invites people to show their support for the Equal Rights Amendment by contacting the President and their two Senators and asking them to do all they can to help get the Equal Rights Amendment published into the U.S. Constitution as the much-needed 28th Amendment. Janette joins Speak Up! to talk more about the importance of the Equal Rights Amendment.
