Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #342 was recorded on a cold February day at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, MA, and is an hour of visionary acoustic improvisation featuring the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, native flute, ukulele, acoustic guitar and acoustic 12-string guitar, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and native drums. Today we begin with the beautiful, peaceful “Into The Midnight Treasure”, a relaxed ballad led by Mariam’s ukulele and adorned with a series of piano figures from Bob in a lovely, naïve major key. “Let’s Return To The Bountiful Place Of Peace” leads seamlessly from the first improvisation, gradually sliding into a contemplative minor led by Mariam’s mournful, plaintive native flute work. “Freedom For Everyone” closes the triptych with mystical, psychedelic touches as we head into the break. “Oh, The Rain” is led by Mariam’s chiming 12-string Martin and a steady march from Craig on congas. Again the band slides seamlessly into another meditative track, the relaxed, minimalist “Let’s Simplify”. “Double Winged Dragonflies” is a lush, electronically treated raga that slides between western and eastern modalities, and “Twin Flames” is a classic by Mariam from her “Gaea Star Crystal: Awakening The Tribes Of Light” album.
Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour with Mariam Massaro can be heard on Dreamvisions 7 Radio Network.
