Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #327 is an hour of visionary acoustic improv music taped live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts on a sunny autumn day and features the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, native flute, celtic harp, acoustic guitar and ukulele, Bob Sherwood on piano and tabla and Craig Harris on congas and native drums. Today we feature special guest Sondra Lewis on vocals and percussion, beginning with the stately, meditative “It’s Been That Kind Of Day” based on a simple, hypnotic piano motif and featuring lovely vocals from Mariam and Sondra. Swirling and mystical, “Sailing By” is a lush, evocative and politically-directed piece with an inspiring lyric from Mariam and fine percussion work from Sondra and Craig. “Let’s All Gather In This New Season” is a pretty folk song led by Mariam’s joyful vocal and chiming ukulele that grows into a lovely operatic motif and “They Keep Trying” is a stately, spacious gospel song with a pointed, lovely lyric from Mariam punctuated by her lyrical native flute and lush, languid vocals from Sondra. Today’s final piece is “In The Quiet Of The Evening”, a raga led by Mariam on sitar with hypnotic percussion from Craig and Bob on tabla and more spacious vocal work from Sondra.
Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour with Mariam Massaro can be heard on Dreamvisions 7 Radio Network.
