Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #291 on a cold January night at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts. This hour we feature Mariam Massaro and Bob Sherwood of the Gaea Star Band and special guest, dynamic violinist Jennifer Leight. Mariam sings and plays native flute, acoustic guitar, ukulele and dulcimer and Bob plays piano and congas. We begin today with the mystical sweep of “Oh, Swing Wide”, a gorgeous song from Mariam draped in lovely violin accompaniment from Jennifer and gorgeous native flute lines from Mariam. “Tendrils Of Love” follows and is a lush ballad that melds a native melody to a soul chord progression from Bob and soars on wings of violin and native flute. “Another Cycle Has Begun (Tamaki Yaio)” is a Polynesian gypsy groove with grooving ukulele from Mariam and a fine conga backbeat from Bob. “Festival Of Lights” is a folk ballad built around Mariam’s chiming acoustic guitar and Jennifer’s circling violin. The mysterious “12 Roses At My Bedside” hovers around imaginative piano from Bob and questing violin from Jennifer and “The Way You Hold Me, Dear” is an eastern mountain groove propelled by Mariam’s dulcimer.
