Today on Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #275 we present an our of improvised music and songs by Mariam Massaro played live at Singing Brook Studio with special guests Gabriel Howearth on rattles and shakers and Dave Davenport on percussion and fretless bass. The Gaea Star Band are Mariam Massaro on vocals, acoustic guitar, celtic harp, native flute, ukulele and harmonica, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and drums. We begin with the summery, expansive “Rising Into Life” which features Mariam’s percussive ukulele and interesting chordal hooks from Bob on piano. “Oh The Rain’s Soaking” is an ode to 2017’s rainy summer, and is a lovely, meditative piece with deep drum pulses from Craig and a fine vocal from Mariam. “Moon Mistress Of The Night” is a lush, peaceful midnight ode with gorgeous native flute interjections from Mariam and a driving pulse from Craig on congas. We conclude the show with two of Mariam’s songs, the inspiring, elegiac “Freedom” and the folk singalong “Sing Down The Walls”.
