Carolyn and Molly Young Brown, co-author with Joanna Macy of Coming Back To Life: The Work That Reconnects talks about the role of conscious people and conscious elders in activism. Conscious activism compels us to ally with indigenous people and all oppressed beings and allow ourselves to be taught by them. Until we do so, we will only be an “I” and not a “we.” In addition, we cannot be conscious activists unless we are willing to utilize our emotions as a doorway to more skillful activism. Working with our emotions deepens our connection with our allies and allows us to view our adversaries with respect, compassion, and discernment.
The New Lifeboat Hour can be heard on Dreamvisions 7 Radio Network.
The New Lifeboat Hour, originally created by author and researcher Michael C. Ruppert, offers inspiration and practical tools for sailing the troubled and turbulent waters of our time. This show delivers conversations designed to awaken the listener and support them in taking action as well as connecting with others who are creating emotional and spiritual resilience in a world of unprecedented changes and challenges. From my perspective, in order to evolve emotionally and spiritually, we need not only to attend diligently to our inner work, we must also be engaged with our world by demonstrating compassion, service, and a commitment to social and environmental justice. The New Lifeboat Hour is committed to the transformation of consciousness as well as the empowerment of global citizens who feel the urgency of our planetary predicament and want to live resiliently and align with the deeper Self, one another, and Earth.
