In this show Dr. Gracer interviews Jill Waibel, MD (at left), a dermatologist concerning the latest information on the use of sun screen, not only for protection while sunbathing, but also for keeping skin youthful. There are new FDA guidelines for labeling that are important to help you choose the most effective products. There are also new formulations that are much more cosmetically pleasing, than the usual thick creams. It is also interesting to know that current recommendations call for the use of sunscreen on a daily basis, year round for men and women. After this Dr. Gracer interviews Les Hilger, MD, who tells us quite a lot about how to avoid and to detect melanoma.

More about Jill Waibel: Dr. Jill Waibel, MD is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and specializes in cutaneous laser surgery, general and cosmetic dermatology.   She is currently the medical director and owner of the Miami Dermatology and Laser Institute in Miami.  She is also active in basic science clinical trials at the University of Miami and has a clinical trials division Miami Dermatology and Research.  She has a long list of publications, mostly in peer-reviewed journals, has received numerous awards for her contributions to medicine, and is sought-after lecturer both nationally and internationally.

More about Les Hilger: Les Hilger, MD is an experienced and highly respected clinical dermatologist, who practices In Oakland and San Ramon, California. He is a graduate of Stanford and UCSF medical school. He completed a residency in internal medicine and then also, a dermatology residency. He is a trained MOHS surgeon, specializing in treatment of skin cancer.
