Wade Wurm – Expat dive master settles in Loreto, Mexico

Imagine scuba diving and having the site named after you on Google maps! That rare opportunity is only one that Wade Wurm has created as Chief of Dive Operations at the Villa del Palmar at the islands of Loreto in Baja, Mexico. The area, once called, “The aquarium of the sea” by Jacques Cousteau, is 25 miles from the nearest dive shop and virtually unexplored.

After taking a year off to travel – a journey that grew into years – Wade has worked as a dive master trainer, setting up dive operations around the globe and traveling to 22 countries. He and his wife settled down in Loreto, Mexico where the diving is full of potential and the location easily accessible for family and friends in Canada. He talks about his discoveries, the value of work, the abundant wildlife above and below the sea and his new home at the Villa del Palmar.
