Kathy Mendes grew up with a darkroom in the family garage. She didn’t anticipate becoming an underwater photographer until she accomplished her scuba diving certification and was inspired to share her amazement of the underwater world. “The minute I went underwater and got certified as a scuba diver I knew I’d be doing this until I die.”

She talks about getting started as an underwater photographer and the changes in technology that have helped her create prize-winning photography.
