Cynthia Dill is a civil-rights lawyer, college instructor, former Sunday School teacher and state senator who resides in Cape Elizabeth, Maine with her husband and two teen-aged children. After serving on the Cape Elizabeth Town Council for two years, Cynthia was elected to the Maine House of Representatives in 2006. In May 2011, she was elected to the Maine State Senate winning 68% of the vote. In addition to her legislative and public policy work, Cynthia worked as the Director of the Common Cause Digital Democracy Project in Washington, DC, and founded the Friends of the Maine Woods, a statewide organization that advocates for the study and creation of a Maine Woods National Park. In June 2012, she won the statewide election to secure the Democratic nomination to the U.S. Senate by 8 ½ percentage points.
