In this show Dr. Gracer interviews Shawn Achor, the author of The Happiness Advantage, and a former teaching fellow at Harvard, and Michelle Clos, a life coach and a Licensed Professional Counselor. The subjects are research into happiness and how to view the world differently to be happier and to live a better life. This information applies to everyone, not just those with chronic illness. Dr. Gracer then describes how to use “ reframing” to help you look at your world and see it in ways that can help you be happier and more motivated.
More about Shawn Achor: In 2007, following over a decade at Harvard where he won numerous distinguished teaching awards, Shawn founded Good Think Inc. to share his research on happiness and human potential with a wider population. When the global economy collapsed in 2008, he was immediately called in as an expert by the world’s largest banks to help restart forward progress. Subsequently, Shawn has spoken in 45 countries to a wide variety of audiences: bankers on Wall Street, students in Dubai, and CEOs in Zimbabwe. His research has received attention from the Harvard Business Review, New York Times, Forbes, CNN and NPR. He published The Happiness Advantage: The Seven Principles of Positive Psychology That Fuel Success and Performance at Work in 2010.
More about Michelle Clos: Michelle’s MS was diagnosed in 2001. She was inspired to provide career coaching services to others after going through her own difficult experiences of requesting a job accommodation. She takes pride in empowering others living with MS to live their best life and reach their full potential, whether it be transitioning to a new career better suited for the unique skill sets and challenges associated with MS, developing a health and wellness or stress management plan, or creating a work/life balance that addresses the issues related to MS. Michelle is an Associate Credentialed Coach, a Certified Employee Assistant Professional,and a Licensed Professional Counselor. She is a Life Coach for the Everyday Matters Program at National MS Societ yin the Dallas/Fort Worth Area.
