Drug Addiction in the Elderly

[HTML1]

As the population is aging, and the use of prescription painkillers among our elders is increasing, we are seeing an increase in the rate of addiction and abuse in this population. In this show Dr. Gracer interviews Barbara Krantz, MD, a noted addiction specialist, about this problem. We review the various drugs involved and treatments.

Elders have some special risks and needs and it is very easy for problems to multiply, causing serious injury and even death. This show is important for anyone who is impacted by this addiction, either directly, or through a family member.
