Thea Summer Deer, Ph.D. is a clinical herbalist, author, musician, singer and educator. She began her midwifery practice in 1978 and was a founding mother of the South Florida School of Midwifery.

She is an award winning songwriter and member of the acoustical duo, Thea and The GreenMan as well as author of the book, Wisdom of the Plant Devas: Herbal Medicine for a New Earth.

Susun Weed began studying herbal medicine in 1965 and wrote her first book Wise Woman Herbal for the Childbearing Year in 1985.
