About Marilyn Maguire
Marilyn Maguire, the Founder/Director of Nautilus Book Awards and of NAPRA (Networking Alternatives for Publishers, Retailers & Artists, Inc.) a former trade association for publishers, booksellers, authors, editors and others in the publishing industry.
Formerly a marketing and publishing consultant, editor, literary agent, bank officer, psychotherapist and yoga instructor, Marilyn has graduate degrees in Psychology, Education and Eastern Philosophy.
She is also a member of G.R.I.T.S. (Girls Raised in The South) and a mother of 3 and grandmother of 8.
About Kathy Eldon
Kathy Eldon is one of the co-founders of Creative Visions Foundation with her daughter Amy Eldon Turteltaub, a global organization that supports “creative activists” who their creative talents to change the world around them.
The foundation is inspired by Kathy’s son Dan, who used his passion for photography to change the world. Dan Eldon died at the age of 22 in Somalia. A young photo-journalist with a passion for activism, he and 3 colleagues were stoned to death when mobs reacted to the bombing of a UN building in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1993.
Kathy is also the founder of Creative Visions Productions, which produces socially conscious films and is working with Julia Robert’s company, Red Om Productions, to produce a movie about Dan’s life.
Kathy is the author of over 17 books and hosts “Caught in the Act”, a Huffington Post video blog that features dynamic creative activists and has herself been featured on countless television and radio programs globally, including a segment on Oprah’s “Producer’s Favorites.”
And today, we’re going to be talking with her about her new book, Safari As A Way of Life, a compilation of photo journals and notebooks from her son Dan’s private sketches and thoughts which have been beautifully bound into a comprehensive narrative about his life and work in Africa.
