Michael is also author of the book Believe Me: A Storytelling Manifesto for Change-Makers and Innovators since read by over 10,000 people. He’s also a contributing author to Wake Me Up When The Data is Over: How Organizations Use Stories to Drive Results (Jossey-Bass 2006).

With a degree in cultural anthropology, Michael began his career as a social entrepreneur – a founding member of two national nonprofits before the age of 23. The first start-up – Volunteer Solutions won the M.I.T. $50K Entrepreneurship Competition in 1998. His second – CitySkills was a sectoral workforce initiative funded by Ford and Rockfeller Foundations and incubated by New Profit Inc.

Michael presents widely on the game-changing power of storytelling. In the last 12 years, Michael’s spoken at hundreds of events including BlogWorld, NASA, DIYDays NYC, #140Conference, and Keith Ferrazzi’s online university.
