Lisa Lieberman Doctor enjoyed a sixteen-year career as a development and production executive in Los Angeles at such companies as Universal Pictures, Warner Brothers and Tristar Pictures. Her last executive position was Vice President of Robin Williams’ company, Blue Wolf Productions, where she oversaw production of “Mrs.Doubtfire.”
In 1995 she switched gears to become a staff writer on ABC’s “General Hospital” and its spin-off, “Port Charles,” and was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award and Writers Guild Award for her work as part of the “General Hospital” team.
After several years writing daytime drama, she refined her focus to writing fiction and coaching other writers.
She currently leads weekly writing workshops in Los Angeles, and also teaches at the UCLA Extension Writer’s Program. Twice yearly she leads writing workshops at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California. She has taught writing at Cal State Northridge Adult Learning, The University of The Balearic Islands in Mallorca, Spain, and Rancho La Puerta in Tecate, Mexico.
Her first novel, The Deflowering of Rhona Lipshitz, was published by Elderberry Press in 2003. Lisa is represented by Erin C. Niumata at Folio Literary Management.
More about Shellie Vandervoorde
During her army career Shellie Vandervoorde served in the communications field. She also completed airborne and air-assault training. Shellie met her husband while in the army.
After Shellie left the army, she attended the police academy of Fayetteville, North Carolina and became a Deputy Sheriff. She was assigned to street patrol, undercover narcotics, community policing, and hostage negotiating and later became a detective.
Enduring the many challenges of numerous military deployments as a spouse of a service member, Shellie wrote her book, Separated by Duty, United in Love: A Guide to L¬ong-Distance Relationships for Military Couples (Kensington Publishing, updated 2010)
Shellie is an active volunteer at a number of organizations. At military family readiness, she is a certified instructor for family team building and involved in numerous levels of leadership, mentorship and training.
Shellie has been a guest speaker for National women’s History Month as well as the United States Special Operations Family Readiness Conference. She has received several volunteer awards including the Outstanding Civilian Service Award from the United States Army.
As a military spouse, author, speaker and trainer, Shellie’s passion is helping people overcome difficulties, grow, develop and become successful.
Shellie continues to serve the people of this great nation through her book and dynamic workshops.
