[HTML1]There is a very important election that is about to happen in San Francisco, for the position of District Attorney. This seat was formally held by Kamala Harris, who made a big difference for the city and in the lives of hundreds of thousands of women. Ms. Harris is now the Attorney General for California, and the San Francisco District Attorney’s seat is up and with a highly qualified woman running for it, Attorney Sharmin Bock, candidate for San Francisco District Attorney in the November 8th election.
After she graduated from Georgetown Law School in 1988, Sharmin turned down lucrative offers from big corporate law firms and went to work in public service as an Assistant District Attorney in Alameda County. Today, she has 22 years of courtroom experience, representing the People of California on over 1,000 cases ranging from misdemeanors to murder. Sharmin has also become a national expert on the growing problem of the sex trafficking of young girls and successfully prosecuted the first case under California’s groundbreaking human trafficking law. If Sharmin wins the November 8th election, she would be the only women in citywide constitutional elected office in San Francisco. Bock joins Speak Up! to talk more about what has motivated her to run for San Francisco District Attorney and what she plans to accomplish when elected.
