Sister Lucy

[HTML1] “Maher” in Marathi, an Indian language, means ‘Mother’s Home’, a haven of hope, belonging and understanding, where women not only feel love and comfort but are assured of security.

With 30 homes in three Indian states, 280 self-help groups in 85 villages, and preschool, library, and community health, education, environment and justice programs, Maher touches thousands of lives each year.

Sister Lucy’s story will inspire you to consider your own inner desires and contribution.

Maher’s amazing work has been receiving attention worldwide and was documented in Women Healing Women: A Model of Hope for Oppressed Women Everywhere by William Keepin, Ph.D., and Cynthia Brix, M.Div.

Sr.Lucy was recently recognized by the Global Women’s Summit with their 2011 Leadership Award. And it is very well deserved!
