Nourish America Focuses on USA’s Families in Need

[HTML1] As every minute ticks by, poverty and malnourishment takes its toll on America:

  • Each year, roughly 30,000 premature/low weight babies die.
  • More than 17 million children are hungry, growing sicker, more depressed and hopeless every day.
  • Over 3 million impoverished seniors wither and weaken.

Nourish America provides nourishing foods and nutritional supplements to hundreds of thousands of America’s most vulnerable children, pregnant mothers, seniors, veterans and disaster survivors all across the country.  Dr. Michael Morton shares the work that has boomed over the years.  Instead of getting less, the work has increased over the years due to the growth in homelessness, the increasing needs of veterans, the elderly and hungry children.

Nourish America’s network spans the entire United States and distributes nutritious food, vitamin and supplements provided by generous for-profit partners.  Distribution occurs through government programs as well as through faith-based charities, schools, nonprofits and many other organizations.

In only a short period of time, the schools and parents quickly recognized the improvements in focus and behavior of children being served by Nourish America.  Although Nourish America’s focus is within the USA, it has also participated in emergency response for hurricane victims, including Haiti.

Dr. Morton speaks to the creative opportunities for nonprofit and for-profit partnering to achieve sustainable and quality programs.

Due to government budgets and other challenges, collaborations between for-profit and nonprofit are key to addressing the issues of America’s vulnerable populations now and in the future.

He gives an example in the interview of how a for-profit company creatively generated recognition for their product while raising money for Nourish America.  Listen to this innovative solution implemented for the success of all involved from consumer to nonprofit to for-profit.

For individuals wishing to contribute to bettering our world, Dr. Morton suggests that the first step is to identify your specific interests and passions, and then go online to research those areas of interest.  When a local nonprofit is found, research that organization through Charity Navigator and volunteer or donate.

For people employed by large companies that have active socially conscious programs and community support, the “power of the employee” is great.  You can introduce a favored program to your employer and encourage their help by directing funds, products and volunteer time.

About Robin Eschler

Robin L. Eschler, the founder of Social Impact Marketing, started her career in developing foundational marketing strategies for companies of all sizes, from Fortune 500 to individual entrepreneurs and local businesses. She has developed and implemented international campaigns to launch high tech products and services and guided new business owners to successfully navigate the difficulties of growing a business.

Her life-long passion for helping others led her into nonprofit work for over a decade. Early on, she recognized the need for nonprofits to adapt to a rapidly changing world in which technology dominates and for-profit business practices are central to success. Her determination to help social causes in a sustainable way led to her creation of the Women's Radio show Socially Conscious Investing.

Impact investing in for-profits with a mission of social change such as the fight against extreme poverty is a blossoming business sector around the world. With the economic decline, it's clear that Wall Street requires change. Social impact investing addresses that need in a way that provides financial and social ROI.

As the Host of Socially Conscious Investing on WomensRadio, Robin's goal is to educate people about the growth of social impact investing and social venture. Interviews are conducted with socially conscious business experts including foundations and nonprofits, social venture investment firms, micro-loan organizations, investors, educators, authors and social entrepreneurs.

This show's mission is to help change the world through sustainable business practices that contribute to the economy, combat poverty, end hunger and provide better lives to all.

Twice, Robin has been recognized and received the highest honorary award that Rotary International gives, the Paul Harris Award, for service above self. Her community work has included developing local programs for disadvantaged populations such as foster children, troubled teens, and people with disabilities.
