[HTML1]Kamala Lopez is a filmmaker, actress and Yale graduate who is currently director of the E.R.A. Education Project, a national media campaign to raise awareness about the Equal Rights Amendment and the importance of gender equality under Federal law. Lopez is the winner of the 2011 Woman of Courage Award from the National Women’s Political Caucus (NWPC) for her work in civil rights and equality. Kamala’s directorial debut feature film A Single Woman, about the life of first U.S. Congresswoman Jeannette Rankin, won the Exceptional Merit in Media Award from the NWPC. Lopez continues to work at Global Girl Media, an organization dedicated to empowering young girls in under-served communities and training them to speak up about the issues that affect them most. Kamala joins Speak Up! to share more information about the ERA and the NWPC’s 20th Biennial Convention and 40th Anniversary Celebration which will be held July 29th through 31st, 2011 at the Liaison Capital Hill Hotel, Washington D.C.
