Outdoor Cycling: You Can Ride Up, But Your Undies Won’t

[HTML1] Before you get your undies in a bunch, try outdoor cycling!

We quickly learned from our guest this week, Dr. Ron Fritzke an expert and top outdoor bicycling source  (Cycling-Review.com), that one of the KEY and raging questions in the workout world of cycling has to do with what goes under bike shorts! Stay tuned to find out that answer and more, such as:

  • Why choose outdoor bicycling as a workout option?
  • What is the greatest obstacle keeping people from cycling?
  • If people want to start or improve their bike riding experience, what exercises do you recommend to get better?
  • Why do people pedal soooooo  slowly on cruiser bikes? Does cadence matter if trying to increase workout benefits?

Dr. Ron Fritzke is a sports chiropractor who practices in Mount Shasta, California, just south of Weed. Besides his private practice, he works with the student-athletes at the College of the Siskiyous. As well, he is a cycling product reviewer with a passion for “all things cycling, “who uses his website, Cycling-Review.com, to poke fun at himself and the wacky cycling world that he’s now totally immersed in.

A former marathoner, he now directs his competitive efforts toward racing his bike…and looking for good cycling products. A former almost-professional runner, he managed 2:17 marathon at the 1983 Boston Marathon, then finished second in the 1983 Bay to Breakers, ahead of 68,998 other runners and wanna-be runners.

In Dr. Ron’s own words, “This was back when sweating a lot was considered to be a good thing, since it made you lighter on your feet, and hydrating during a race consisted of trying to drink sloshing water out of small paper cups while running at close to 5 minutes per mile.

As a dad, he underestimated the effects of Father time, and overestimated his sprinting abilities when training with his son…which resulted in a torn achilles tendon.

Not willing to admit that he’d been compromised in any way, he didn’t take care of the injury adequately, resulting in permanent damage that would make a lesser man whimper and cry. Because he’s no longer able to run, he now spends his fitness energy riding and racing his bikes. He likes riding bikes because they go faster than even the quickest runners from Kenya.”

Not only will you get fab and fun answers from this interview, but also we recommend you read the whole story on undies – yes or no – on Dr. Ron’s blog.
