[HTML1]More about International Thriller Writers
The International Thriller Writers is an honorary society of authors, both fiction and nonfiction, who write books broadly classified as “thrillers.” This would include (but isn’t limited to) such subjects as murder mystery, detective, suspense, horror, supernatural, action, espionage, true crime, war, adventure, and myriad similar subject areas.
One of the main purposes of the organization is to provide a way for successful, bestselling authors to help debut and midlist authors advance their careers. To that end, ITW has designed numerous, effective programs and events which promote debut and midlist writers and their work, sometimes in partnership with bestselling authors. In addition, ITW promotes literacy, gives money to worthy organizations, supports libraries, and advances the genre. Finally, it brings together almost a thousand writers, readers, publishers, editors and agents at its annual conference, ThrillerFest, as well as at CraftFest, a writing workshop program, and AgentFest, where aspiring authors can meet and pitch top literary agents.
Jon Land is the Vice President of Marketing and Communications for the International Thriller Writers organization.
Jon is the author of 29 books, 17 of which have been nationalbestsellers. His 30th, STRONG AT THE BREAK, the third in his Caitlin Strong/female Texas Ranger series, will be published in June by Forge. STRONG JUSTICE, the 2nd in the series, was named a Top Thriller of 2010 by Library Journal and was runner-up for Best Novel of the Year at the New England Book Festival. And the debut entry, STRONG ENOUGH TO DIE, is being developed for a film by producer Michel Shane and director Carl Franklin based on the screenplay adapted by Jon himself.
More about Heather Graham
New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Heather Graham enjoys taking an occasional walk on the wild side with her writing. The popular and prolific author of more than 100 books writes contemporary suspense, historical romances and, for a real change of pace, paranormal novels that feature ghostly characters from beyond the grave.
Heather began writing after the birth of her third child. She sold her first book in 1982. Today, more than 100 books and two children later (for a total of five), she is at the top of her craft and delighted to be “paid for doing something I love so much.”
The author’s success is reflected not just by reader response and the over 13 million copies of her books in print, but in many other ways. Heather has received numerous awards for her novels, including over 20 trade awards from magazines such as Romantic Times BOOKclub and Affaire de Coeur, bestseller awards from B. Dalton, Waldenbooks and BookRak, and several People’s Choice awards.
Heather has appeared on Entertainment Tonight, The Today Show, Romantically Speaking, a TV talk show that aired nationwide on the Romance Classics cable channel, and CBS Sunday News. She has been quoted in People and USA TODAY, profiled in The Nation and featured in Good Housekeeping magazine. Her books have been selections for the Doubleday Book Club and the Literary Guild. She has been published across the world in more than 15 languages, and has published over 100 titles, plus anthologies and short stories.
Heather grew up in Dade County, Florida, and attended the University of South Florida at Tampa, majoring in theater arts, and touring Europe and parts of Asia and Africa during her studies. After college she acted in dinner theaters, modeled, waitressed and tended bar. She loves travel and anything that has to do with water, is an avid fan of ballroom dancing and competes in pro-am competitions, and is a certified scuba diver.
“Learning to scuba dive is still one of my proudest accomplishments,” says Heather. “I got the urge when I was signing up my son for dive lessons, and I went on to learn myself. The best part is that it gives me the chance to explore Florida in a whole new way.”
Reading, however, is the pastime she still loves best, and she is a member of many writing groups, the latest being International Thriller Writers. She is very proud to be a Killerette in the Killer Thriller Band, along with many fellow novelists she greatly admires.
Married since high school graduation, Heather says her greatest love in life remains her family, but she counts her career as an incredible gift.
Heather hosts Writers for New Orleans each Labor Day, and is happy to hear from her readers. Check out her Web sites at EHeatherGraham.com, TheHeatherGraham.com and TheOriginalHeatherGraham.com.
