[HTML1] Susan Thistlethwaite’s book, Dreaming of Eden: American Religion and Politics in a Wired World, explores how our “always on” access to the internet has been draining our society of our ability to connect with each other, on any level. It has led away from an era of collaboration to one of divisiveness in both religion and politics.

Susan was the president of the Chicago Theological Seminary for ten years, and she continues to teach there as a Professor of Theology. Using her background in theology, she began to explore the reasons behind a recurring theme in our youth, one of distance and loneliness. How having an “anonymous” presence online has led to what seems to be a heightened state of cruelty and bullying, because one doesn’t have to face the consequences of their actions.
Listen as Susan discusses the ways we have become disconnected from each other, how our wired world is aiding in that disconnect, and how you can use the wired world to help others find a connection again.
