For over twenty years, Jessie Conaway, has educated adults and youth to safely and respectfully experience the natural places in which they live. She has educated people about safe canoeing, kayaking and rafting in waterways throughout the U.S., from the Mackenzie River in Oregon to the New River in West Virginia.

Jessie has a master’s degree in experiential education, with a focus on environmental and outdoor education. She is currently certified in kayak instruction, telemark ski instruction, and is a member of the National Ski Patrol.

An advocate of “everyday adventure,” Conaway administers community outdoor programs throughout Wisconsin, and teaches outdoor pursuits at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Jessie has facilitated herbal medicine and wildcrafting classes, apprenticeships, and campouts since 1995. She was a founder of both the Madison Herbal Institute in 1997, and the  Coulee Region Herbal Institute in 2000. Her 2007 DVD,  Into the Woods: Wildcrafting and Wilderness Experience was filmed in northern Wisconsin. Conaway enjoys the outdoors throughout the seasons with her husband and two daughters in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
