[HTML1]More about Barbara Barnett
Barbara Barnett writes the regular feature “Welcome to the End of the Thought Process: An Introspective Look at House, MD” for Blogcritics magazine, where she also serves as a television and film editor. Blogcritics draws approximately four million site visits per month, and her column is among the most popular features on the site, typically getting thousands of hits during the first day after publishing a new article and more than 10,000 hits per week. Blogcritics magazine publishes approximately 200 stories each week. Barnett’s weekly House column remains among the most popular features on the site for days after publication.

Barnett’s weekly commentaries on House episodes, essays about the show and its characters, interviews and trivia quizzes are anticipated by House, MD fans from around the internet and around the world, and has been acknowledged by the show’s producers as a leading authority on House, MD.

Barnett’s columns are regularly featured on the FOX Network’s official House, MD site and have been syndicated to newspaper websites including USA Today, The Boston Globe, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, The Chicago Sun Times and the Seattle PI. Her columns begin conversations about House, its characters and deeper themes–not only within the blog, all around the Internet, including official series forum at FOX.com. They generate excitement for the series and inspire viewers to watch and re-watch House episodes though a different lens.

Barnett is lives in the Chicago area and is a native of the area. As an undergraduate, she studied biology and chemistry. After spending two years doing environmental microbiology, she had the opportunity to fuse her interest in writing with her science education as an associate editor/writer for Processed Prepared Food. Work on her PhD in Environmental Policy was interrupted by the birth of her first child, Shoshanna, but after a short break, she became a public affairs consultant working on the US EPA’s Superfund Project. Another short hiatus when Adam was born led her to strike out on her own, landing contracts with US EPA, the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Indiana Environmental Protection Agency as well as corporate clients.

After writing two commissioned short books for the National Safety Council on environmental and safety management, Barnett decided to switch fields. Pursuing her other love—singing. Barnett began training in Jewish liturgy and music, working as a Jewish teacher, which she has been doing for the past several years. But writing continued to pull her, and Barnett created several notable publications while engaged as Ritual Director at a large Chicago area synagogue, including a “Parent-Tot” prayerbook and an innovative guide book to the Sabbath morning service and liturgy.

Continuing her day job while writing her Blogcritics column has been sometimes been a challenge, especially this year while writing Chasing Zebras. Along with the book, her daughter got married, her son started University and her mother—just recently—passed away. She is blessed with a supportive and indulgent husband who doesn’t mind the messy house and “catch-as-catch-can” dining style at Chateau Barnett.
