The National Writers Association is a 73-year-old writer’s service organization which assists both beginning and professional writers with everything from how to format a manuscript to send off to publishers to helping with finding markets, agents and editors for their work. More about Bertha M. Davis
In the summer of 1988, Davis graduated from Indiana Vocational Technical State College with an Associate degree in Secretarial Science and Word Processing. She has been a member of the Outreach Team Prison Ministry for over 30 years, a Volunteer Chaplain & Religious Service Coordinator for the Sheriff Department at the Marion County Jail, and has received numerous of awards for her outstanding services to the community.
She is an Award Winning Author for her book, Growing Up In Mississippi that has been on the Best Sellers list, received the Best Book Award by BlackRefer.com Reviewers Choice Awards, the Five Stars YOUnity Reviewers Award Worldwide in New York, and Joy Award presented by Joy Production of WHTJ Radio Station 1690-AM in Indianapolis, Indiana. Growing Up In Mississippi Audio Book received the 2009 Indie Excellence Finalist Book Award, and has received numerous reviews including
C-Span’s Book TV.
Davis is a full-time Writer and has written several books. She was in the Artist Author’s Spotlight of the month for her book, Marriage and the Family, chosen by Marguerite Press; Artist Author’s Spotlight of the month chosen by Nubian Sistas Book Club, and Artist Author’s Spotlight of the month chosen by C&B Books Distribution.
She does reading in schools, and is a workshop presenter. She is a member of the following organizations: Black Vendors Association, PubEasy booksellers, Circle of Vendors, Indianapolis Community Magazine, and Indianapolis Black Business Association.
