Dallas Woodburn
, 22, is the author of two award-winning collections of short stories and a forthcoming novel. She has been interviewed on The Early Show on CBS and the nationally syndicated PBS book talk show Between the Lions and was recently honored as a 2010 Glamour Magazine “Best of You” award winner for her volunteer work. Dallas’s short fiction has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and has appeared in Monkeybicycle, Cicada, Flashquake, and The Newport Review, among others.

She has also published more than 70 articles and essays in numerous national publications including Family Circle, Writer’s Digest, MotherWords, The Los Angeles Times, and eight Chicken Soup for the Soul books.

In 2001 Dallas founded Write On! For Literacy, a nonprofit organization that encourages young people to discover confidence, joy, self-expression and connection through reading and writing. She organizes short story and poetry contests, teaches fun writing workshops for kids, and holds an annual Holiday Book Drive that has donated more than 11,100 new books to disadvantaged youth.

Her latest endeavor is starting a publishing company, Write On! Books, that champions young writers. The first Write On! anthology, due to be released summer 2010, features more than fifty young writers from all across the U.S. and even abroad, including Canada, Singapore and New Zealand.

Dallas studied Creative Writing at the University of Southern California and at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England. This August, she is entering the renowned MFA program in Fiction Writing at Purdue University.
