[HTML1] Scytera Foam: A New Better Treatment Option for Psoriasis (0-22:00) features a discussion of psoriasis– how to recognize it, and treatment options including Scytera Foam.
Psoriasis is simply defined. It is a chronic, inflammatory skin disorder. But if you’re one of the seven and a half million psoriasis sufferers in America, whose quality of life and relationships are adversely touched by the condition, you want answers. Our first guest, Dr. Joshua Zeichner, is here to help.
In the past, coal tar has been widely used in treating psoriasis in combination with ultraviolet B therapy in a regimen called the Goeckerman Regimen. However, this regimen requires hospitalization and close monitoring, which is very difficult for a lot of patients. Patients are also turned off by the smell or by the consistency of the product.
Dr. Zeichner discusses a new coal tar formulation called Scytera Foam to which his patients have responded very well. It’s very easy and convenient for patients to use in an outpatient setting, and patients even quite like the smell of it. It doesn’t have the side effects associated with topical cortical steroids.
In the following segment, Reading With Children For Tracking Cognitive Development in a Well-Child Program (22:01-33:00), Tom Cook shares with us an unusual literacy program called the Children’s BookWell Program that is part of Scott & White Healthcare’s Round Rock Branch (TX) pediatrics program. Young patients receive a new book when they go for their “well child” appointments.
Scott & White Healthcare’s Round Rock Facility created The Children’s BookWell Program being used there and at other regional clinics. The mission of the program is to foster and nurture children’s growth and development through the availability and reading of books. The Program helps physicians diagnose any possible emerging communication disorders. Children’s development of language and reading skills is followed by reviewing with parents who have read these books with them how well the children could remember stories, point to characters in the books, and so on.
Jeffrey Helmcamp, M.D., pediatrician at Scott & White – Wells Branch Clinic added at a recent promotional event for the program: “Additionally, reading to children early takes advantage of early brain development, and the knowledge acquired during this period will impact their learning potential for life.” He goes on to say that “when we read to children, we give them a gift that lasts a lifetime and helps spark their imagination.” (News Release, Scott and White Newsroom)
