Lane Shefter Bishop has experience with every stage of entertainment project development, from conception to packaging, through production and post. She spent nearly a decade working in motion picture development at Walt Disney Pictures, Touchstone Pictures and Hollywood Pictures, among others, and has been a working producer and director in the industry for more than seventeen years. During that time, she has received numerous accolades for her work including an EMMY, a Telly, a Videographer Award, a Sherrill C. Corwin Award, an Aurora Award, a New York Festivals Award and the DGA Fellowship Award for Episodic Television.
Ms. Bishop began by starting her own production company, Moxie Productions, through which she produced and directed projects for ABC’s HOME SHOW Showtime’s The Affair, HBO’s Hotline series and MTV’sRock The Vote. Since then, Ms. Bishop has directed numerous television shows and five feature-length motion pictures.
Her favorite project is the feature film she directed entitled The Day Laborers (Los Jornaleros), which received Official Selection in Edward James Olmos’ LA Latino International Film Festival, Cine Accion (San Francisco), OutFest (Hollywood), Reel Affirmations (Washington, DC), NewFest (New York) as well as the Milan International Film Festival in Italy. The film was distributed through both HBO and Blockbuster Video.
Ms. Bishop is also the former Executive Vice President of Motion Pictures and Television at TwinStar Entertainment, where she worked for two years as a director and producer as well as being in charge of all creative development. In her time at the company, Ms. Bishop produced and directed the TV pilot presentation GOTHAM ROSES and built an impressive slate of projects, based on well-known, branded material by such notables as Harlequin (worlds leading publisher of women’s fiction), Scholastic (worlds leading publisher of children’s books) and Sandra Brown (author of fifty-seven New York Times bestsellers.) Ms. Bishop was also able to secure representation for the company with one of the top agencies in the business, Paradigm, as well as close a deal for three TV movies with ABC Family.
Currently, Ms. Bishop is CEO of Vast Entertainment, a young company with numerous projects already in development including – feature films GhostKeepers (Out of The Blue Productions) and The Duff (Wonderland), MOWs such as The Girl’s Guide to Witchcraft (ABC Family), and television series including The Savannah Reid Mysteries (Lifetime). Additionally, Ms. Bishop is currently producing and directing a slate of movies based on Harlequin material, which will subsequently be cut down into webisodes for distribution on both mobile and internet platforms.
Ms. Bishop holds a B.A. in Literature from the College of Creative Studies at UC Santa Barbara and an M.F.A. in Production from USC’s School of Cinema/Television. She is a director-member of the Directors Guild of America and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and is married to award-winning producer, Andrew Bishop.
