Weaving The World is a radio show created by Host Sharon Riegie Maynard. Sharon’s questions lead her to a unique view on women; being heard is paramount to their gift of leadership. Relationships spark ideas and ideas bring action in fields of conversation. Women’s conversations and actions, woven together, will create a new web, a new culture for life. |
Sandra L. Brown, MA is the CEO of The Institute for Relational Harm Reduction & Public Pathology Education. She is a leading expert on pathological love relationships and the author of How to Spot a Dangerous Man and her new book, Women Who Love Psychopaths.
Relationships with these abusers with no consciousness put the partner at high risk of dangerous harm. Brain imaging has shown pathology is hard wired, not willful behavior.
She wondered if there is a reason that some are drawn to or tolerate dysfunctional men. What she learned is that those who end up in very disordered relationships have 15 traits that are 70-90% higher than is normal, a higher tolerance for abuse, quicker bonding, intense attachment and greater empathy.
They accept what other women would not, have difficulty admitting there is a problem and blame themselves.
Women who stay in abuse relationships have usually ignored their early red flags, have renamed the behavior and minimized the situation.

Sandra’s goal is to educate others that all relationships and abusers are not created equal. There are some that do not respond to counseling and are unable to sustain positive change or develop insight about how their behavior affects others.
