Barbara Anne Ferris, Democratic Candidate for Congress
10th District OHIO
After being asked by the women in the former Soviet Union to be taught how to run for political office, Barbara researched to see who was training women in political skills. She found there were a few small groups. She brought her research together and formed International Women’s Democratic Center to strengthen women’s leadership around the world.
Noting that Cleveland, which used to be one of the top 10 most livable cities in the U. S. has struggled since Dennis Kucinich has represented the 10th District of Ohio, she decided to seek office.
Barbara has told thousand of women, “If you are not sitting at the table, you are the meal”. She saiys, “Until women push to be at the table, the decisions that are being made will continue to have a negative impact on women’s lives”.
Women need to understand their power and not be afraid to use that power and recognize that they political everyday in their personal lives.
Issues in the 10th District:
- Tremendous lose tremendous of jobs overseas
- No leadership planning the move from manufacture to knowledge based economy
- Absent Representative whole 10 year record has done nothing, and the community has suffered
- Education for the next generation of leaders in a global economy
- Need for job creation
During the last election, The Plain Dealer, the largest newspaper in Ohio, withdrew their endorsement from Kucinich after they looked very closely at his record.
